Short version. Tenryu-ji's garden opens at 8:30, and at 7:30 from 14 to 30 November 2026. Sagano Romantic Train seats go on sale online at midnight one month before the day you ride. Even when the website shows sold out, stations sell same-day tickets (except Hozukyo).

Special early opening: from 14 to 30 November 2026 the garden opens at 7:30 (garden entrance only; the north gate still opens at 8:30). The halls close on some days for ceremonies.
Sagano Romantic Train
- Stations: Torokko Saga, Torokko Arashiyama, Torokko Hozukyo and Torokko Kameoka.
- Online sales open at midnight, one month before the day you ride.
- If the website is sold out, station windows still sell same-day tickets. Hozukyo has no ticket window.
- Children need a ticket from elementary school age.
- The JR Pass cannot be used on this train.

Hozugawa river boat
The boat runs from Kameoka down the river to Arashiyama: about 16 kilometres and about two hours. In 2026 the regular timetable runs from 10 March to 13 December.
