Kyoto Ahead is run from Kyoto by Team Aioi. Most practical information about the city is published first, and sometimes only, in Japanese. We read those official sources and turn them into plain English guides.

How the guides are made

Research and drafting are done with AI tools. Every fact in a guide must be traceable to an official source, which is listed at the bottom of the page. Anything we could not confirm is either left out or clearly marked as last year's information. A person in Kyoto approves each guide before it is published.

How the site makes money

Some booking links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission at no cost to you. They will be marked. We do not accept payment to change what a guide says.
